French architect Alexandre Ciancio is also known for his photography work. These images are flat, graphic pieces that focus on the people within the image and their experiences by pushing the background distractions into the background. His images manage to have a retro and modern feel to them. This would be a good artist to look at if you are focusing on experiences or narratives.
We've all just arrived at this wonderful gallery... I'm sure I'll throw up a few photos of the day later! keep em peeled!
Amy Friend is a Canadian artist and photographer. In this series ‘Dare alla Luce’, she takes vintage photos and puts holes in them. The work is then shown with a light box behind it creating a magical quality. Friend has spoken about her approach to this type of work and has said:
‘I aim to comment on the fragile quality of the photographic object but also to the equal fragility of our lives, our history’. This would suit a theme based around family narratives, obscured or narratives. http://amyfriend.ca/ Loli describes herself as a film-maker and a ‘modern vintage collage artist’. Her work focuses on presenting a narrative scene, implying that there is something bigger going on behind the image. Loli's figures are often partially or mostly hidden from view, leaving it up to the viewer imagination to fill in the blanks. This work would link nicely to a hidden/obscured theme.
http://cargocollective.com/eugenialoli Jacob Lillis is a British photographer. In this series (My England) for Dazed magazine he travelled the length of England capturing the lives of people consumed by World Cup mania. He went inside homes and pubs, documenting the desperation and nervousness, the celebration and elation. This could fit nicely into the “Family Narrative” / “Narratives” themes.
